Shahid Afridi Brilliant 3 Wickets. Shahid Afridi found his nirvana in the finals of the NatWest T20 blast with some brilliant and solid performance. Afridi first bowled brilliantly with a lot of variations and later batted in his typical boom boom style. It was unfortunate that he couldn’t steal the game for Northomptonshire but the entertainment associated to him surely hit the ground and a few times the stands as well. Afridi played a sublime role first in the bowling. Lancashire was cruising down to a total beyond 200 before Afridi interrupted all their plans with some really tight bowling. Afridi in his 4 overs remained very much economical by giving away only 13 runs and also took 3 scalps to dominate the proceedings against Lancashire.
First he stumped Brown, then Faulkner tried to stretch him over extra cover ended up giving a straight forward catch to covers and Lewi made no mistake there and right on the next ball Livingston was outsmart by a Googly. Three wickets shifted the game from Lancashire’s corner to Afridi’s. His three wickets right in the middle parts put the pressure back on the Lancashire. Later when he came onto bat, Afridi kept his team in the hunt. He made 26 of 18 balls in which he scored three boundaries. First one was four hit on a full toss outside his off stump and the deep covers are empty and waiting for his shot. Afridi never misses on those balls. He absolutely nailed it.
Next was the big booming six down towards the mid-wicket region. It was right in his arc and Afridi powered it up with some really high voltage. It was huge and it went out with some serious distance. Afridi was keeping the steel backs in the game. A straight hit from him even dislocated Faulkner’s finger as well and after that he edged him over the keeper’s head to gain another boundary. Afridi was playing dangerously and his cameo came to an end when he hit one straight to Livingstone at deep point.
