Pakistan’s Maria Toor beat South Africa’s Siyoli Waters in a hotly-contested final to win the 2nd Bahria Town International Women’s Squash Championship in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Maria, who hails from Waziristan, had defeated second seed Nadine Shahin of Egypt in the quarter-final before taking down Malaysia’s Teh Min Jie in the semi-final to set up a clash with top seed Siyoli Waters in the grand finale of the event which carried a prize money of $10,000.

Spurred by the home crowd support, Maria overcame Siyoli 11-9, 11-7, 6-11, 10-12, 12-10 after a high-octane 46-minute battle.
