Muhammad Irfan Stunner Against South Africa. Muhammad Irfan the tall fast bowler from Pakistan is known for his height and aggressive fast bowling. Irfan holds the world record for being the heighted international player in cricket in the history. He is over 7 feet tall. With this height he was born to be a fast bowler. His first run for the team back in 2010 was very poor and he has got all reasons for it. Irfan was not well polished yet in those days. He hardly had stepped into the domestic cricket in Pakistan. Because of his tall height and fast pace he was sent to England to join the Pakistani team and Irfan lacking the international cricketing experience failed miserably. He didn’t let hope flee away and kept on working hard and finally in his next come back he performed like a superstar.
Irfan was the fast bowling narration Pakistan needed in South Africa in their last tour and the tall fellow stood up to every expectation. He performed well with the ball and gave his team some crucial moments which eventually made them seal the ODI series. Pakistan became the first Asian team to win an ODI series on the South African soils and it was a huge achievement for them. The venue was Kings mead, Durban and Pakistani players were on fire against the host South Africans. South Africa were 177 for the loss of 7 wickets and then Irfan took a stunner to dismiss Ryan Maclaren off the bowling of Saeed Ajmal. It was a nothing shot from Maclaren but could have survived it had it been some other player than Irfan.
Irfan had no option left by then. The ball was nowhere to be seen and the catch was to be taken by all means. Poor Irfan had nothing to think on and he just stretched his left hand blindly. His luck came running towards him with the ball and got stuck to his left palm. There it was, the catch was taken and everyone immediately knew it was a blinder. Irfan himself gestured I didn’t knew where the ball was. Ajmal was the first one to reach out to him. The tall fellow was hard to hug to tap was the only remaining option for Saeed Ajmal. Irfan himself quoted about this catch and said that when stared running back at the ball I knew where it was but then the sun came in the way and I just lost it. I had a little bit idea where it should have been by now but I was not sure. I just prayed to God and stretched my hand and I was lucky that the ball came right in the middle of my hand and once it got stuck, I made sure it doesn’t fall out. We were in a very strong position and I didn’t wanted to drop this catch and let go my team.
