The undefeated welterweight said his final fight in September will not be against Amir Khan or Shawn Porter. Khan has long desired to be the final opponent for Mayweather, but the controversial fighter flatly said no this weekend when asked if Khan would get that chance, according to BoxingNews24.com.
Porter put himself in the conversation with a convincing win over Adrien Broner on Saturday night.
“No, I just don’t feel like it’s gonna happen,” Mayweather said, according to Fighthype, about a fight against Porter. “He can fight on my under-card in September.”
But it’s the names Mayweather did mention that have fight fans shaking their head.
“Either Karim Mayfield or Andre Berto, that’s who Floyd Mayweather will be facing in September,” Mayweather continued. “I mean, every fighter, you know. One of those guys could upset Floyd Mayweather, you never know. It’s the Mayweather sweepstakes: Who’s gonna hit the lottery? It all depends on how I feel.”
